Featured Artist: Ansel Adams
Ansel Adams was born on February 20, 1902 in San Francisco, California. He attended both public and private schools because of his father's wealth, but only received an 8th grade education because he was self conscience and had troubles in school. His love for nature and nature photography took off when his family took a trip to Yosemite National Park. He took a job there and started taking photos of nature in 1919. Three years later his first photograph was published, and he held his first one-man show in 1932. He also taught, opened a gallery, and wrote numerous books. He is most famous for creating black and white photos of nature, including Sierra Nevada and Yosemite. Adams was successful because he helped raise awareness for the conservation of the natural world through his photography. I chose this artist because nature photography is my favorite and I think conservation of nature is very important and something that people should be more aware of.
